Streaming Funeral Service For Janet Elizabeth Rhodes

Janet Elizabeth Rhodes, age 96, of Stuart, Florida passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023.

She moved to Florida in 1991 from New Jersey. She was born in Columbus, Ohio and raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio. She is the daughter of late William and Ruth Rabe. Prior to her retirement, she was a bank teller and loved her work.

Mrs. Rhodes was predeceased by her husband Howard Rhodes who was a retired Army Major. She is survived by her two children; Richard “Rick” Smith (Debbie) of Mainville, Ohio and Barbara Shepanski (Jeffrey) of Ocean Breeze, Florida. Three grandchildren; Michael Smith of San Diego, California, David Shepanski (Jelyn) of Manila, Philippines and Amanda DeMartino of Manahawkin, New Jersey. Three great grandchildren; Katelyn Jade Shepanski of Manila, Philippines, Dante DeMartino of Manahawkin, New Jersey and Elizabeth Amber of Manila, Philippines.

After attending Shaker Heights High School in Cleveland, Ohio where she was proud to say Paul Newman graduated from there, she attended two years at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She majored in Art which she was very good at. She was a member of the Eastern Star of New Jersey, Tuckerton Chapel #54 for over 50 years.

Janet loved cats, and she adopted many from the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast. She donated her time there as well. Her birds were very special to her and she loved to feed them, her favorite were Pelicans. She went on many cruises and loved the Caribbean. She had a love for the beach and lighthouses. Janet had beautiful gardens and loved her roses, she lived life to the fullest. Rest in Peace.

A Celebration of Life for Janet will be held at 3:00 pm, August 15, 2023 at Aycock Funeral Home, 6801 SE Federal Highway, Stuart, Florida 34997.
