Ruth Ann Rosaline Palmer-Hutchinson lived a beautiful, impactful life dedicated to her family, her patients, and her passions. Born the ninth child to Louis and Edith Palmer in Eglinton, Manchester, Jamaica, she possessed a generous spirit and a deep desire to help others from an early age.

A Life of Dedicated Service

As a young woman, Ruth courageously left Jamaica to pursue her education in England. There, she successfully graduated from nursing school and began her career in the medical field. Her journey reached new heights in the late 1960’s, when she migrated to the United States. In New York, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and spent decades working as a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse, specializing in Maternity Care. She brought countless lives into the world with gentle care until her retirement to Port St. Lucie, Florida, in 1998.

Family and Legacy

Ruth’s heart belonged to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stafford Hutchinson, in 2014; her son, George Hutchinson, in 1999; and her two cherished grandsons, Duke in 2007 and Ahmed in 2017. Her resilience and love never wavered through life’s deepest trials.

Ruth’s legacy lives on through:

Her Passions

Outside of her professional life, Ruth was known for her vibrant energy, deep faith, and refined tastes. She loved gospel music and nourished her spirit by faithfully attending church services in person or watching them on television. She also kept a meticulous, welcoming home, found immense joy and peace while cultivating her beautiful garden, and traveled the world to experience new cultures.

Ruth’s kindness, dedication to her calling, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
