It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother Barbara Tencza of Hobe Sound Fl, who left us peacefully on August 12, 2025, at the age of 75 surrounded by family.
Barbara was born on October 5, 1949, in Passaic NJ to John and Eva Magda. She was a beloved wife and pillar to her family. Barbara’s unwavering determination and grit touched the lives of all who knew her. She met life’s challenges with courage up to her final breath.
She is survived by her beloved husband, best friend, and the love of her life for 55 years Michael; son, Matthew, his wife Jenifer and their children Morgan and Ben; daughter, Sharon Prochazka, her husband Mark and their children Radek and Sage, all of whom brought her endless pride and joy.
Barbara’s life was filled with care, creativity, and joy. She met her husband at a young age, and together they balanced caring for their elders while building a life of their own. Once they had children, she devoted herself to raising them, providing a loving foundation while also caring for her mother, who lived with the family for many years. Barbara later worked in stenography and office administration, where her precision and organizational skills shone through. She was a remarkable cook, especially known for her Polish holiday traditions and made-from-scratch pierogi recipe—handed down through generations— remains a favorite among family and friends. A video gamer ahead of her time, she loved playing Atari with her children and mastering handheld games on her own.
In later years, Barbara found joy in golf—celebrating three hole-in-ones—as well as in mahjong, reading, playing cards, and traveling with her beloved family, affectionately known as “The Herd”, who delighted in always sticking together wherever they went. Their group iPhone chat was appropriately named “Just Loud”, a reflection of the laughter, fun, and love they shared. She is deeply missed, but her legacy endures in the traditions, joy, and memories she passed down to her children and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on October 4th at 11 AM at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Hobe Sound FL. Friends and family are welcome to attend and share memories.
Streaming of the service will be made available. Please check back here for an updated link.
